So its time to look back... this is becoming a good practice...I have been doing this for last four years...
One of my important goal was losing a few kilos and getting back to shape...I think I have done a fair job....although this December is trying to take everything away!

I wanted to visit home and so did I during the winter break!

I didn't had a coast to coast road trip but I drove to east coast with Rushaed..that was an awesome experience.

I haven't yet figured out whether I should do a PhD or start working....my interview with Cummins was nice but haven't heard anything from them yet...all of the PhD applications are submitted and now waiting to hear from the schools...

No luck with MANG!

Now whats for 2012? Umm..lets see

First of all, finish my MS as quickly as possible and start working/ PhD.

Second, MANG!!!

Third, keep working towards getting in shape

Four, working on the three UC projects that are currently under discussion

Five, learn a new language

Six, start a cooking blog

Seven, working on new business idea with Tareq

Eight, learn to play something

One more day, then I will be on the way back home...after fifteen long months....Just thinking how is this fifteen months experience....In one sentence, it was awesome! Lets make a list of important things that I learned during my stay!

1. Booze, of course
2. Football...yeah the american one..though still don't know why its football
3. American work ethic...I think thats what make them top
4. Speak up/ sell yourself
5. Why need to plan long ahead....

Can't remember any other right now...will update when something else I can recall....

Now reading the biography of Steve Jobs....I have to say I am not that much impressed/ inspired reading this...there are certain aspects of Job's character that I do not like...but there are some important lessons that I have learned from it....

One most important thing is there is very little chance that something dramatic will happen in life and change your life....there goes on a lot behind the scene that you see in a successful person...you have to keep working towards the goal with sincerity and keep building your dream slowly...also to understand the big picture is very important...

I liked the analogy of winning battles and wars....being to much focused on winning small battle can cause lose the entire war!

I might read few more chapters before I return it to the library...lets see what surprises me!

I asked a question to one of my good friends and got this reply:

"I think you have to hope for the best and try. Nothing is guaranteed. We have to be patient and try for things that make us better and more knowledgeable. "

Seems this is the perfect advice for me right now. Just have to keep things pushing...lets see where it takes me..

I had the interview with Cummins today. Pretty satisfied the way it went. Lets see how they play the ball.

Just came back from Santosh's defense...liked the work...It was nice to see both the Ghias' proud of their student...

Pretty much sure that I want a research career, whether in industry or academia...I think thats where I belong.

Finally decided for the Universities that I am going to apply....It will be awesome if I can make into any of them.

And I need to learn more math...sometimes its really nauseating that I do not know enough math.

Update: Here goes the confession...my heart really wants me to pursue PhD

One important thing that I discovered recently about school is to succeed all you need is just hang in there. There will come times when you will feel broke, teared apart, but all you need is just keep pushing...keep doing what you are supposed to...do not back off....do not give up....

And another important update apart from school....its really tough to be with a girl who does not know Bangla :-(

there are millions of thought that pops up in your mind and you just can't share them because you fear they will be "Lost in Translation"

Just as a short note of how far I have come across this 8 months, if the peak is 100, I was around 7-10 when I was done with BUET. And now it feels like 20. Still a long way to go, huh? But look at the bright side, I have almost doubled what I got in 5 years in just last 8 months. Pretty Steep!

Looks like coming to Cincinnati is a good decision so far ;-)

Man is a social bitch. At least men and women from twenty first century are social bitch. Its the society that dictates how you should breathe, how you should sneeze, how you should date, have sex, blah blah blah. You are so wired by the fucking norms of society that you just become a social bitch. Its the society that literally puts a collar on your neck and treats you like its own dog.

Is there a way out? I am looking for one, let me know if you have already found one; it will save my day.

Grad life is going well. It seems I really love being at school. All the mysterious stuffs are becoming more and more clear. The jargons are not jargon anymore, they are more to be the slangs that I use now and then.

I started going to the gym again. This time I am not going to let myself down. I already set up an appointment with my personal trainer. Looking forward for it. Lets see how it goes.

Ok, this is the start of my some sort of pseudo-digital-disconnection. I really don't know how appropriate the term is, because I just signed off my facebook and yahoo.....I am still blogging, my cellphone and gmail are still on. And no to mention, I will keep posting photos to flickr. I was just too stuck with facebook and so decided to give myself a break. Also, there are somethings that are happening around me, which I am not so comfortable to talk about.

Last night, I was kind of thinking how things went for me for the last past years; and it seems that almost everything went well except a few stupid stuffs. But what if those stupid stuffs went in a better way? How different my life then would be?

Another new year...another new wishlist

2010 was a terrific year except a few things that slipped out of hand badly.

Instead of losing, I gained a few, in fact I went over hundred for the first time. I missed Shagor and Shakila getting married (Bappi and I were longing for this for quite a long time, but none of us was there to celebrate). But except those, things went out pretty good. I ended up in a good school, got a job that I always dreamed about. At last, I learned how to cook and the learning curve is really steep. I got myself a new camera and found my mentor for sorod.

Now its 31st December and again its time to make some wishes for the coming year. And this time I want to keep things really simple. Just a few things that I really want to happen.

First of all, lose some kilo. I know I am saying this to me for a couple of years, but this time I am damn serious and want to give this a shot. UC has a great place for working out and they really charge me hundred bucks a quarter whether I use it or not. So, this time I am not letting my money drain in vain.

I want to visit home either in summer or winter break.

May be a coast to coast road-trip or Euro-trip!

It will be really nice if I can line-up a job by fall. I am still skeptical about spending few more years in school but I want to figure this out by middle of this year.

And Project MANG is sill on! Looking forward!

World AIDS Day 2010

My first encounter with the word "AIDS" was pretty long ago. I was then a 8 years old kid probably. I was watching a commercial on TV about AIDS. It was a song sung by a lot of celebrities from all sectors of Bangladesh. The song was really horrifying. The abstract was : If you have AIDS, then you are surely gone. For a kid like me, I didn't understand what AIDS was, but I could imagine what "surely gone" means; and to be honest, that image was for sure scary. But I was such a helpless kid that I could only feel pity for the guy with AIDS, imaging that he had to leave the beautiful world pretty soon.

Now, I am grown-up, but does the situation changed a lot? I am still that much helpless just to feel pity for the AIDS guy, nothing more. We are doing so many things around the world; from cutting edge computers to new series of WMDs, but yet nothing on the list for the AIDS patients. Still for a lot of people, HIV positive means "surely gone".

But I think we have what we need to change the situation. We may not have the treatment of HIV patients, but we have love. Lets give our love to them; stop staring at them with despise and stop saying that its their sins caused their suffering. Lets try to make some space for them in our mundane life or at least make their rest of the days a happy journey.

Let the love rule.

Look Back 2009 and Wishlist 2010

The start of 2009 was terrific. I was running almost everywhere to save my dirty ass. Thanks to my Backbencher guys for not allowing me to stay another term in BUET!

In March we broke. Being tired of running for the last 5 years I decided to station myself at home.

April was good. I started for GRE with a high spirit ( this time I was prepared not to let it go again).

May and June were just afflictions. My days in AKG were kind of weird. I gathered both friends and enemy. Sleeping in a feet-wide cable ladder and burning under the sun were some unforgetteble events. I plan not to repeat the mistakes in my new job that I did here.

In June, out of nothing I got a project work. "Band of brothers" really did well there.

August was the month of reap. With a mixed feeling of confusion, fear and confidence, I entered AAA and the rest is still unbelievable to me!

In the rest months, apart from running( by which I lost 4K!) , I managed a decent TOEFL score, qualified for the BCS written and cracked IBA!!!

And just before the year was ending, I became an author of a conference paper.

Least But no the last, I was heart-broken time and time this year and I am still on run like Mr. Forest.

Wishlist 2010

1. Make a good MS admission deal (I am waiting for this for a long time)
2. Like 2009, I want to lose a few kilos.
3. I want to get a good job.
4. Want to attend the wedding of Shagor and Shakila
5. Write a paper
6. Have some quality holidays.
7. Learn Sorod (Ayan and Aman are making me really obsessed about it)
8. Learn cooking.
9. Do some photography.
10. Translate "The Last Lecture"
11. Project MANG

And I want to continue enjoying my life more.

অনেকদিন পর ফুরসত হল।
কত রঙ পাল্টালাম মাঝের এই সময়টায়।
সাতকাহন গাইতে গেলে ফুরাবে না।
পাওয়ার লিস্টিটা নিশ্চিতভাবেই না পাওয়ারটা থেকে অনেক লম্বা।
সামনে যা পেতে চাই তার লিস্টিটাও নেহায়েত ছোট না।
তবুও ওই ছোট লিস্টিটাই এত ভারী হয়ে চেপে বসে আছে।

What just happened today is quite unbelievable!

In these "No More BUET" days, I usually get up early from bed, at around 5 o'clock and then go for jogging. Today, after getting up from bed I looked at my cellphone and I saw it was 5.44 am and I was about 45 minutes late. I looked outside my window and it was still dark. I became confused. Usually by 5.44 am the dawn breaks! After the dawn breaks, it become quite tough to jog along the highway. So I rebuked myself for getting late and canceled today's jogging and tried to sleep. I woke up after 2 hours sleep and went to living room to watch the tv. Suddenly I looked at the clock and found it was 6.45 am !!! It was supposed to be something around 7.45 am !!!! Alas!! what happened!!

I ran quickly to my bedroom to see my cellphone clock. Don't get me wrong! I never tipple at night. It was 7.51 am in my cellphone clock. I checked other clocks of my house and found my cellphone was running an hour faster. I can clearly remember the cellphone clock showing the right time before going to bed.

Then what happened in the mean time? Did I went through something like time travel?? Or just my cellphone went through time travel?? Weird !

হয়ত আজ রাতে আরো খারাপ কিছু ঘটে যাবে।
শুধু একটা কথায় বারবার মনে হচ্ছে, পৃথিবীতে সবচাইতে বড় অপরাধটা হলো মানবীয় দৃষ্টিকোন থেকে আরেকজনকে দেখতে না পারা।

তবুও ব্লগটা লিখছি একটা বিশেষ সন্ধিক্ষণ হিসেবে চিহ্ন দিয়ে রাখার জন্য।
আবার একটা অনিশ্চিতের দিকে পা বাড়ালাম।

ঢাকায় উইকেন্ড কাটানো যে চরম বোগাস জিনিস সেইটা আবার প্রমাণ হয়া গেল।
সারাদিন রুমে বইসা আছি। রবি কুমিল্লা গ্যাসে আর তৈয়ব রাজশাহী। মাসুম আর ফয়সাল সারাদিন ফার্মগেট। পুরা রুমে খালি আমি। সকাল থেকে নানা কিসু ট্রাই করলাম কোনোটাতেই মন বসাইতে পারলাম না। না করলাম থিসিসের কাজ, না পারলাম কালকের ক্লাসটেস্টের পড়াটা শেষ করতে। সেশনাল রিপোর্টটাও তৈরি করি নাই। এখন বইসা বইসা অনলাইন রেডিও শুনি। MikeLive নামের স্টেশনটা দেখি বেশ ভালোই।

Today, I was watching Olympic on the TV. I was enjoying the smiling faces of the winners on the podium. It is so nice see somebody getting paid for his or her long hard work. I always love this moment of getting paid and thats what drove me this far. For the same reason, I love the sports page of the newspaper, I see there people celebrating success!

Earlier today, I was reading an interview of Micheal Phelps; he was asked about his childhood that was there anything then that he had to make compromise with to be here today. He mentioned about his friends; he had to leave them alone often for the sake of his practice. In these days, I also suffer from such dilemma. Should I pay more time to my GRE stuffs or spend my last days at BUET in a way that I don't have to regret later!

Atlast I m writing again....time has become so precious(!) and i m busy to shave of every nanosecond possible and it results me not to write a single blog in two months.

Yesterday , we had a kind of busy day here at BUET. In the afternoon, I convinced tareq to go with me to IIUPE at Shilpokola Academi. It was a nice exibition; if u have time u can go and check it out till 9th august.

Shaggy, with his full gang came to meet me. Shakila, mishu, liza, kaju everyone was there. Its almost two years, but still dont know why mishu makes me go crazy !! Before turning myself into complete mad, I left them and joined buet buddies.

ধরুন আপনি একজন উৎসাহী উবুন্টু ব্যবহারকারী। আপনি চাচ্ছেন আপনার আশেপাশের বন্ধুরাও উবুন্টু ব্যবহার করুক। কিন্তু যদি আপনার বন্ধুর যদি ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ না থাকে সেক্ষেত্রে তার পিসিতে উবুন্টুর সফট্ওয়্যারগুলো ইনস্টল করা বেশ ঝামেলার কাজ। AptOnCd ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে কিন্তু সেক্ষেত্রে বারবার সিডি-ডিভিডি বার্ন করার ঝামেলা। অথবা আপনার নিজের সিস্টেম রি-ইনস্টল করলে পুরোনো সফট্ওয়্যার প্যাকেজগুলো আবার নেট থেকে না নামিয়ে চাইলে হার্ডডিস্ক থেকেই ইনস্টল করা যাবে।

এজন্য নিচের পদ্ধতিগুলো অনুসরণ করতে হবে:

১। প্রথমে ইন্টারনেট থেকে dpkg-dev প্যাকেজটি নামিয়ে নিতে হবে। কনসোলে টাইপ করুন

$ sudo apt-get install dpkg-dev

২।/var/cache/apt/archives থেকে .deb এক্সটেনসন যুক্ত সব ফাইল /home/samee/ubuntu নামে একটি তোল্ডারে কপি করুন।

$ cd /home/samee (এখানে আপনার ইউজার নেম লিখতে হবে )

$ mkdir ubuntu

$ sudo cp -rf /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb /home/samee/ubuntu

৩। এবারে dpkg-scanpackage দিয়ে প্যাকেজ ইনডেক্স তৈরি করুন।

$ sudo dpkg-scanpackages ubuntu /dev/null | gzip -9c > ubuntu/Packages.gz

আপনি সফল হলে আমাদের মুল কাজ শেষ!

কিভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন এই রিপোজিটরী?

১। আপনার তৈরি করা উবুন্টু ফোল্ডারটি আপনার নিজের ব্যবহারের জন্য অন্য কোন উইন্ডোজ ড্রাইভে সেভ করে রাখুন অথবা আপনার বন্ধুর পিসিতে কপি করুন। ধরি ফোল্ডারটি রুট ডিরেক্টরিতে কপি করা হয়েছে। এখন আমরা /etc/apt/sources.list ফাইলটি এডিট করবো। প্রথমে ফাইলটির একটি ব্যাক-আপ তৈরি করবো।

$sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak

$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

২। যে ফাইলটি খুলবে তার শেষে নিচের লাইনটি যোগ করুন।

deb file:/ ubuntu/ ( / আর ubuntu এর মাঝে স্পেস হবে)

৩। এবার নতুন রিপোজিটরী ইনডেক্স তৈরি করুন।

$sudo apt-get update

এখন Add/Remove Programs / apt-get থেকে ubuntu ফোল্ডারে থাকা প্যাকেজগুলো খুব সহজেই ইনস্টল করা যাবে।

I just opened a new blog here at blogger.com.
Dont khow why but i just wanted to have an english blog.

I do blog in yahoo!360, thats really great.

my 6th semester is over and only 2 more to go to be a graduate .

enjoing the term vacation though we had some cancellation of tours.

Now plaing NSF-Carbon. it just rocks. I have a cash of over 120000 and one Aston Martin DB-9 and another Mercedes Benz SL 65. things are really going great.

one last thing, Do u know that BUSH stands for BUlkSHit ??
